Maurice Wallace

Maurice Wallace was born on December 22, 1943, in Kildare, TX to Wealthy and Dessie Wallace and passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Kennewick. He was 80 years old.

Wealthy relocated the family from Texas arriving in Pasco in December of 1947. In December of 1955, the family moved to Richland. After graduating with the Class of 1962 from Richland's Columbia High School, Maurice served in the Army, then relocated to Seattle where he graduated from Seattle University, beauty college, was employed at Boeing, owned real estate and was a studio musician performing with Ike and Tina Turner, Barry White and many others. His love of music came as a member of New Hope Baptist Church playing in the choir and quartets. He and Janice then relocated to Los Angeles, CA where he opened a fish and chip restaurant, began a trucking business and purchased more real estate.

Maurice is survived by his family: daughter, Rita Weston; son, Marlin Weston; grandson, Allen Tenia Hennings; and special nephew, Elmer Penn (Patricia) all of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his sisters: Wilma Woods (Franklin) of Seattle, Verniece Skinner of Richland, JoNell Wallace ('69) of Seattle and Treva Miller ('78) (Napoleon) of Richland. Additionally he is survived by his brothers: Bruce Wallace ('74) (Teresa) of Richland, Edward Wallace ('75 honorary) (Jacci) of Kennewick and Orlando Wallace of Richland; along with many nephews, nieces and relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wealthy and Dessie Wallace; brothers, Theartis Wallace ('63) and Duane Wallace; spouse, Janice Wallace (Weston); daughter, Carrol Gean Weston; and grandson, Alexander Hamilton.

Maurice’s family would like to give a special thanks to Rosetta Assisted Living staff at 1208 W. 11th Place in Kennewick and the Kennewick Hospice Staff and Nurses for outstanding care of Maurice. We extend our sincere appreciation for your prayers, thoughts, cards, flowers and words expressed during our bereavement.
