Richard, age 76, went to be with our Lord on May 24, 2020, with his beloved wife, Nancy, by his side.

Richard was born to Alfredo and Erlinda Trujillo in Sheridan, WI on November 19, 1943. He had five brothers and three sisters: Solomon, Daniel, Lawrence, Dolores ('53), Marie "Lydia" ('55RIP), Ernest "Ernie" ('59), William "Bill" ('64RIP) and Elizabeth ('70).

He graduated with the Class of 1962 from Richland's Columbia High School and attended Mississippi State while proudly serving in the United States Air Force. He retired with the designation of Master Sergeant, after more than 20 years.

Most of his adult life was spent in Texas, Arkansas and Arizona. After the military, he became an accomplished cosmetologist. He loved being a hairstylist and believed everyone had the right to be and feel beautiful. During this time, he also gained his credentials to be an Assembly of God minister. He served as Deacon, Youth Pastor and in Prison Ministry throughout the years.

"Brother T" as he was affectionately called, touched many lives while on this earth. He was a kind and generous man, always willing to help those in need without hesitation. He and his wife, Nancy, took in many people into their home through the years, serving as surrogate parents and/or mentors to those who had no place else to turn. He always had a smile on his face and encouraging words to share, instantly making others feel comfortable and loved.

Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Ann; three children: Richard, Deborah and Cary; grandchildren: Brandon, Richard "Duke", Alina, Aaron and Marissa; great-grandchildren: Haylie, Micah, Zayden, Anila, Tiago, Zariah, Axel and Deliah; brother, Ernest "Ernie" ('59); sister, Elizabeth ('70); and "beloved brother" of the five Petty Sisters.

Richard attended the Church of the Nazarene in Sun City, AZ. Memorial service date is to be determined.

NOTE:

His brother, Bill ('64), passed away September 15, 1987.

His sister, Lydia ('55), passed away February 7, 2006.

His sister, Delores ('53), passed away January 28, 2011.

His sister, Liz ('70), passed away June 26, 2023.
