Jim Sasser

In memory of our beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, James Dale Sasser, age 56, long-time resident of Kennewick who passed away August 27, 2001. He was born September 14, 1944, to Dale and Versel Sasser in Harrison, AK.

Jim graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1962. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, where he met his future wife. Upon discharge, Jim and his new bride returned home to Richland.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed several occupations, including service as a Pasco Police Officer, 911 Emergency Dispatcher, Benton-Franklin Transit Operations Supervisor and Partner/Realtor at Distinctive Properties, Inc.

He was a member of the National Association of Realtors, Southside United Protestant Church and he attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church with his family.

Jim had a great sense of humor and a big heart. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He made no secret that his grandchildren were the light of his life.

His absence will be a significant void in our lives. He will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his parents; his wife of 35 years, Christa; his daughter, Mary Sue Sasser Jewett; his son-in-law, Tim J. Jewett; grandchildren, Matthew and Samantha Jewett, of Seattle; his daughter, Christa Sasser Wilhelm; son-in-law, Peter M. Wilhelm; granddaughter, Caitlin Wilhelm, of Scappoose, OR; his sister, C. Sue Sasser Callahan ('71); and his brother-in-law, Kent R. Callahan, of Hillsboro, OR.

A memorial Mass was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2001, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kennewick.

Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home in Kennewick handled the arrangements. He was buried at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick.
