MARLENE JEAN RUSSELL KALLIOINEN ~ Class of 1962
December 11, 1943 - December 12, 2003

Marlene Russell - 1962 Sr portrait ~ Marlene Russell - 1963 ~ Marlene Russell - recent

Marlene was a loving wife and companion who loved all of God's creations large and small. She loved children and gave many years of devoted service as a child advocate in CASA/Gal. She had a profound love for animals. This love and kindness led her to be a long-term volunteer in Greyhound Pets to help place rescued Greyhounds to loving homes.

She loved to play tennis. She loved the people associated with it and the competition.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Hilda and Charlie Russell.

She left behind her husband, Kelly; siblings: Linda ('64), Dianne ('67) (owner of Russell Vineyard) and Charles ('69) (Marcella, aka "Mike"); nieces: Darlene Russell (fiancé, Greg Neunhertz), and Charlene (Mike) Swett; mother-in-law, Olavi; and father-in-law, Tynne Korppi.

Marlene was a loving companion, sister and caring advocate for children, who made her home a refuge of peace and love for rescued animals of all kinds. She will be missed by all lives she touched.

There is a statement, "Within this home may God's love abide and bless all who step inside", which applies to Marlene herself and home. The world certainly is a better place because of her.

Memorial services were Saturday, December 20, 2003, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Kennewick East Stake Center; 515 S. Union; Kennewick.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society; P.O. Box 7046; Kennewick, WA 99336.
