Bummy Peterson - 1962

On Thursday, May 28, 1998, Myron Ravnaa "Bummy" Peterson Jr passed on to our Heavenly Father. He was always close to his family and will forever be known to those who loved him as "Bummy."

He was born June 1, 1943, to Myron and Alice Peterson in Badger, MN. The family moved to Richland in 1950, and Myron graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1962.

Myron was a regional championship wrestler as a high school senior and attended Columbia Basin College and Central Washington State College.

Myron joined the U. S. National Guard, served six years in the Reserves and then began a long career with the railroad.

He started work for Burlington Northern as a fireman out of Pasco and then spent twenty years working as a railroad engineer for Weyerhaeuser in Klamath Falls, OR.

Myron is survived by his parents, Alice and Myron Peterson, of Richland; his older sister, Maureen Peterson Barnes ('59); brother-in-law, George Barnes; and nephew, James Barnes, of Tacoma; his sister, Susan Peterson Webster ('63); brother-in-law, Dennis Webster; niece and nephew, Christy and Randy Webster, of Tacoma; his brother, Michael Peterson ('64); sister-in-law, Judy Kleinpeter Peterson ('67); and nephew, Eric Peterson, of Tacoma; his sister, Ranae Peterson Osborne ('67); his brother-in-law, Jim Osborne; and niece, Laurel Osborne; along with his youngest sister, Cindy Peterson Underwood ('71); brother-in-law, Mark Underwood; nephew and niece, Clay and Anna Underwood, of West Richland.

Myron loved fishing and baseball, and he had a special place in his heart for pet animals.

He will be remembered as a generous person who always was willing to give of himself when there was work to be done.

One of his greatest pleasures in life was teaching his nephews and nieces the fine art of fishing.

Myron especially enjoyed watching sports and gardening with his father and mother.

His love and enduring support will be missed by his whole family. "We'll miss you, Bummy, and we all love you very much.

A brief service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 1968, at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland.
