John William "Bill" Mathis, 47, of League City died Friday, August 5, 1990, at his residence.

Mr. Mathis was born April 1, 1943, in Danville, IL. He graduated with the Class of 1962 from Richland's Columbia High School.

He was a manufacturing manager for the Bentley-Nevada Corp. in Houston. Bill was a member of the Christian Church. He was president of the Northern Nevada Development Authority for two years. He was a resident of Friendswood for one year, and a former resident of Minden, NV. Bill was a member of the Elks' Lodge Minden-Douglas.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Mathis of League City; son, Todd Mathis of Reno, NV; daughters, Lisa Mathis of Portland, OR and Marci Mathis of League City; mother, Martha Briggs of Kennewick; and sister, Sandra Mathis Griffin ('58) of Kennewick.

Services were at Jack Rowe Cathedral Chapel with the Rev. Kent Scott Larson officiating. Final services were at Tri-Cities Funeral Chapel in Kennewick. Burial was at Desert Lawn Cemetery in Kennewick.
