ROLAND JAMES LAWRENCE ~ Class of 1962
January 11, 1944 - June 27, 2008

Roland James Lawrence was born on January 11, 1944, in Ft. Worth, TX to Robert James and Sophia Marianne Kompan Lawrence.

He graduated with the Class of 1962 from Richland's Columbia High School and served in the U. S. Army stationed in Vietnam.

Roland's siblings are Gary Lawrence ('56) and Roberta Lawrence Montomery ('66).

His first wife was Theresa, and his second wife was Donna. From his first marriage are two children, Angela and Ryan. From his second marriage are Jessie and Christopher.

Roland's two grandchildren by Angela, Cooper and Juliana, preceded Roland in death. His second wife, Donna, also preceded him in death.

His mother passed away on April 3, 1974, and his dad passed away on November 27, 1996.

"On Friday, June 27, 2008, dad died of cancer at the age of 64. The doctors told him he had about six months left to live a few years ago, but he refused to give up and did everything he could to fight the cancer. His efforts payed off, and he was able to prolong his life. Sadly, the cancer finally caught up to him this year and took him away from us".
