BOMBER MEMORIAL

DOUGLAS L. "DOUG" HAWKINS ~ Class of 1962
December 30, 1943 - October 18, 2023

Doug Hawkins

Written by his niece, Camille Van Wagoner Hawkins:

"Uncle Doug died this morning, October 18, 2023, surrounded by family and friends at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Palmer, Sam, Linda (Drieux) Deborah, and James Kryter all had very close relationships with Doug as Doug never had any children of his own (that we know of ??), and their father died when they were young.

Doug has been a consistent father figure in their lives and although a "pain in the ass" and rough around the edges (don’t worry, he knew it) he also was extremely caring and loving.

Doug was a Muscogee Creek Indian and took extreme pride in his heritage. He served in the Vietnam war in the Special Forces as a Captain in the U. S. Army.

Above all else, Doug cheered for others and loved celebrating with those he loved. He will be very missed and leaves a legacy of deep connections, hard work and enjoying a cold beer on his farmhouse porch in Oklahoma."

Doug graduated with the Class of 1962 from Richland's Columbia High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace (Drew) and James Oral Hawkins Sr; and by his brother, Jim Hawkins Jr ('60).

Among his survivors is his brother, Charles Hawkins.

Bomber Memorial put together by Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66).
