Bill Cloos

William H. Cloos, a long time resident of Prosser, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack after a good day of fishing on Saturday, September 18, 1999 at the age of 55 years.

Bill was born February 4, 1944, to Harlan Kenneth and Elizabeth Christina (Reitz) Cloos in Torrington, WY.

In 1950 the family moved from Wyoming to the Tri-Cities area and that fall moved to Lewiston, ID where Bill began his schooling. They moved to Richland in 1951 where Bill continued his education, graduating from Richland's Columbia High School in 1962.

Bill attended CBC and received his degree in computer programming and then attended Eastern Washington University continuing in the computer field.

He enlisted in the U. S. Army and served in Vietnam. Upon discharge from the Army Bill worked at Prosser Packers, Inc. in the computer office.

On August 22, 1970, Bill and Sharon Duckworth were married in Prosser where they continued to make their home.

Mr. Cloos owned and operated both Creative Landscaping and Riverside Landscaping for several years. He had been employed at Hanford since 1981, most recently as a plant engineer on the spent nuclear fuel project.

Bill will be remembered as an excellent craftsman, who loved to work with oak. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Cloos of Prosser; daughters, Kelly Cloos of Spokane and Michelle Elizabeth Cloos of Ellensburg; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jean and Bill Graham of Kennewick, and Marietta and Jim Lynn of Coeur d'Alene, ID; his father-in-law, Herman Duckworth, and his wife, Adeline; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law: Leroy and Hazel Duckworth; Lloyd and Jean Duckworth; Carol Blankenship; and Judy and Les McClure; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth Cloos.

A funeral service for Mr. Cloos was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 1999, at the Church of the Nazarene in Grandview with interment following at the Prosser Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Care of Meyer Funeral Home in Prosser.
