A Memorial service for Richard B. Chisholm, 58, was held at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chisholm, who was born in Bellingham on October 5, 1944, was a 22-year resident of Spokane. He died Tuesday, September 3, 2002.

He graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1962 and graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor's degree in education in 1966. He earned a master's degree in education from Western Washington University in 1969 and a Ph.D. in education administration from WSU in 1976.

Mr. Chisholm was the assistant superintendent of schools in Kelso, WA, before coming to Spokane in 1980. He was the assistant superintendent of schools for School District 81 for 14 years before retiring from education in 1994. He then became the vice president of human resources for Empire Health.

He was a member of the Spokane South Rotary Club, the Spokane Club, the Manito Golf and Country Club and the WSU Alumni Association. He attended Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church and was a member of the board of the Inland Northwest Blood Center.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Barbara; two sons, Andrew Chisholm of Sammamish, WA and Matthew Chisholm of Spokane; two brothers, David Chisholm of Clear Lake, WA and Don Chisholm of Coeur d'Alene; a sister, Becky Benson of Coeur d'Alene; and his father, Robert Chisholm of Gig Harbor, WA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane County Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
