BOMBER MEMORIAL

ROBERT MAYNARD "BOB" BERGDAHL ~ Class of 1962
October 27, 1944 - December 21, 2016

Bob Bergdahl

Robert Maynard Bergdahl was born in Richland on October 27, 1944. He was a long-time resident of Vancouver, WA where he died peacefully on December 21, 2016, at the age of 71 years after a beautiful visit from his family. He died from complications of a brain tumor.

Bob accepted Christ as his Savior, and has now gone home to God as he always hoped.

Bob grew up in Richland and enjoyed the adventures of life on the River with his brothers, sister and neighborhood friends. Bob was always tinkering with go-carts and bikes as a boy and created his own 1946 Ford hot-rod in high school.

He graduated from Richland's Columbia High in 1962 and from WSU in 1967 with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.

Later Bob pursued his interest in welding, becoming a certified stainless steel welder. He was a lifetime member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union.

He is survived by his two children, August Bergdahl and Nellie McBride of Seattle; their mother, Patsy; his brothers, Crane ('60) and Roger ('67); his sister, Janet ('65); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Darby Glenn; and her children: Becky and Mark Smith.

His parents, Clyde and Betty Bergdahl, preceded him in death; as well as Darby's daughter, April.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
